Shockwave therapy in Ipswich, Woolpit and Linton

Shockwave therapy (ESWT) uses a handheld device to deliver pressure waves through the skin to a targeted area. It may be considered for some persistent tendon-related problems after assessment. It does not suit every condition, and how well it helps can vary.

An integrated approach to rehabilitation

At Rise Rehab, we use shockwave as one part of a wider plan. When it is appropriate, each combined appointment includes shockwave followed by physiotherapy to work on movement, strength and a gradual return to activity. The treatment plan is tailored to your assessment and progress.

Is shockwave suitable for me?

Your physiotherapist will discuss your symptoms, goals and relevant health history, assess the area, and explain the options. We will talk through the potential benefits, uncertainties and risks before you decide. If shockwave is not a good fit, we can discuss other rehabilitation options.

What to expect

The treatment is applied to the area using a handheld applicator. It can feel uncomfortable. Temporary soreness, redness, swelling or bruising can occur; less commonly, more serious tissue injury has been reported. Your physiotherapist will explain the relevant risks and check your suitability before treatment.

Start with an assessment

If you are considering shockwave therapy, book a physiotherapy assessment so we can discuss whether it may be appropriate for you.
